About Us

We are all very proud of our academy and its successes. In May 2017, Ofsted judged our academy as 'Good' in all areas. We offer funded Nursery provision and a thriving Primary Phase. We are also delighted about our greatly improved examination results and that Swindon Academy is the number one school in Swindon, and in the top 4% of schools nationally, for Progress 8 measures. Additionally, we are proud of our popular Grammar Stream provision from Year 7, which provides a unique educational experience for very able students from across Swindon. We also have the most comprehensive provision of enrichment activities for students in the area and we are able to offer entry to our welcoming and successful Sixth Form to students from other schools. We make no secret of striving for excellence in every aspect of school life.

At Swindon Academy, we want all children to succeed both academically and socially so they will be well prepared for adult life in a changing society. As such we treat our pupils as individuals and we are strongly committed to providing equal opportunities for all.

We constantly seek new horizons to enrich our children's lives. We have a unique partnership with Marlborough College, where our students regularly benefit from visits, residentials and collaborative projects, as well as receiving coaching and mentoring from staff and students at Marlborough.

We endeavour to give all children confidence and a sense of purpose and direction so that their lives are enriched by attending Swindon Academy. We do our utmost to make school a positive and memorable experience for our pupils.

Our Vision

Our academy is an ambitious learning community, where everyone is determined to outperform their previous best. Detailed planning enables us to deliver a rigorous and challenging curriculum. Outstanding teaching fosters independent, creative and resilient learners who gain a mastery of maths and are able to communicate confidently and effectively.

High achievement, accelerated and sustained progress and the pursuit of excellence are underpinned by robust support structures and quality care and guidance. We provide leadership and development opportunities which value and bring out the best in everyone in an atmosphere of pride, respect and enthusiasm.

Strong partnerships and a reputation for innovation and excellence ensure Swindon Academy is the school of choice in our community and beyond.

We Dream Big • We Aim High • We Reach Far

We want your career at United Learning to be a rewarding and enriching experience that exceeds your own professional goals whilst helping transform the children's lives and life chances in our schools. We believe that it is only with outstanding people working in an outstanding professional environment will we become an outstanding group of schools and the leading light in education we aim to be.

United Learning

United Learning is a group of schools which aims to provide excellent education to children and young people across the country. We seek to improve the life chances of all the children and young people we serve and make it our mission to bring out the best in everyone – students, staff, parents and the wider community. We are uniquely united across both the state and the independent sectors; we make learning and improvement our focus. Together, we are one of the country’s largest education providers, currently educating over 30,000 students and employing over 5,500 members of staff including over 2,500 teachers.

We provide a broad education, which prepares young people to progress in learning and to make a success of their lives. We focus sharply on the evidence of what makes it more likely that young people will progress and succeed, apply that to our practice and continue to learn and develop our schools. We make it a priority to provide teachers with excellent professional support and development, so that every child receives an excellent experience.

Through being a group, we can offer more to both staff and young people that any single school could offer alone. The growing range of outstanding group-wide activities that we can provide will mean that more young people will have truly exceptional and inspiring experiences. Already, we believe that our group contains the most developed relationships and practical interaction between independent and state schools in the country, creating benefits for all the schools involved.

Our Ethos and Values

Our approach is underpinned by a sense of moral purpose and commitment to doing what is right for children and young people, supporting colleagues to achieve excellence and acting with integrity in all our dealings within and beyond the organisation, in the interests of young people everywhere.

We summarise this ethos as The Best in Everyone. This ethos underpins our core values:

  • Ambition – to achieve the best for ourselves and others
  • Confidence – to have the courage of our convictions and to take risks in the right cause
  • Creativity – to imagine possibilities and make them real
  • Respect – of ourselves and others in all that we do
  • Enthusiasm – to seek opportunity, find what is good and pursue talents and interests
  • Determination – to overcome obstacles and reach success

As a single organisation, we seek to bring together the best of independent and state sectors, respecting both traditions and learning from each. We believe that each of our schools is and should be distinctive – each is committed to developing its own distinctive strengths and identity while sharing our core values as institutions which promote service, compassion and generosity.

This ethos is our expression of our Christian roots, in schools which are fully inclusive and both welcome and respect students and staff of all faiths and none.
